Switzerland receives final EC635

written by WOFA | January 5, 2010

Swiss AF 20th EC 635The Swiss Air Force took delivery of the last of its 20 Eurocopter EC635 helicopters on December 17 at RUAG Aerospace’s Alpnach facility where all but four of the aircraft were assembled.

The helicopters were ordered in April 2006 and will replace the Allouette III in Swiss service, and will be employed on light transport and training duties.

The EC635, the military version of the EC135, is expected to be a contender for the ADF’s Air 9000 Phase 7 program to replace the Navy’s Squirrel and Army Kiowa helicopters with a common training and light transport helicopter. Two EC135s are currently leased to the Army at Darwin for training and currency flying for Tiger ARH crews.
