Upgraded Lynx helos re-delivered to British Army

Lynx Mk9AThe first four of 12 Lynx Mk9 helicopters have been re-delivered to the British Army following an extensive upgrade by AgustaWestland.

The upgrade has seen the aircraft fitted with more powerful engines common to the forthcoming AW159 Lynx Wildcat giving better hot and high performance and a payload increase of more than a tonne.

Other improvements include new avionics and digital displays, a stronger transmission, an enhanced rear fuselage structure and enhanced electronic warfare self protection systems.

The first aircraft are expected to be operationally deployed in the second quarter.
