written by WOFA | February 11, 2010

RAAF KA350 post HP modHawker Pacific has delivered the first of five new build Beechcraft King Air 350s to the RAAF’s 38 Squadron in Townsville.

The aircraft are being provided under a long term performance based, turnkey lease and support contract with the Defence Materiel Organisation, signed in November 2009, to supply and support King Air 350 interim ADF light transport aircraft capability. The aircraft joins three existing ADF King Airs which were transferred to 38SQN from the Army late last year.

Together, the eight strong fleet of King Airs will provide an interim capability between the retirement of the Caribou tactical transports and their eventual replacements under Project Air 8000.

The second new King Air will be delivered to 38SQN during March.
