Bombardier has announced that its supplier Shenyang Aircraft Corporation (SAC) has commenced construction on the facility which will produce CSeries fuselage sections, following a stone laying ceremony in Shenyang, China.

“This ceremony marks a new milestone in the strategic cooperation between Shenyang, AVIC, China and Bombardier,” said Bombardier president and CEO Pierre Beaudoin. “Bombardier believes in the China aviation industry and is encouraged to see the further development of the Shenyang National Aviation and High Technology Industrial Base as a center of design and manufacturing excellence.”

The 21000sq m facility will produce fuselage sections for the CSeries, which has garnered orders from Lufthansa, Republic Airline Holdings and Lease Corporation International. It is planned to enter service in 2013.
