Reports out of JSF partner nation Denmark this week suggest that country may be wavering in its support of the F-35 program and is perhaps leaning towards ordering the Boeing F/A-18E/F Super Hornet instead.
Danish broadcaster DR has reported that cost increases and program delays meant the Danish Defence Command was longer considering the F-35 to replace its F-16A/BM MLU fighters, and that it would recommend to the Danish government that the Super Hornet be ordered instead. Boeing has been conducting a major sales campaign in Denmark for the Super Hornet for some years, and demonstrated the jet in that country in early 2008.
For its part, the Danish defence ministry has said no decision has been made, and that a report was due to be sent to the government later this year for a decision in 2012
