Evergreen International Airlines has launched a US$175m (A$189m) lawsuit against Boeing after the aircraft manufacturer contracted Atlas Air to operate its four 747 Dreamlifter aircraft.
Evergreen has filed the suit in the federal court in Seattle, alleging bad faith and breach of contract, after Boeing gave notice to Oregon based Evergreen that it would switch the contract to operate the oversize transport aircraft to Atlas Air. Evergreen alleges that the only reason for the switch of contract was for Boeing to avoid paying compensation for delays to the 747-8 Freighter, for which Atlas is a major customer.
Boeing uses its fleet of four 747 Dreamlifters to transport sections of the 787 from manufacturing facilities in Italy, Japan and within the US.
