Brisbane based company Ferra Engineering has been awarded a five year build-to-order contract from Boeing to build 50 machined components for 747-400s.

Ferra was identified through Boeing’s Office of Australian Industry Capability (OAIC), which was established in 2008 in conjunction with the Defence Materiel Organisation to assist Australian small and medium enterprises (SMEs) greater access to opportunities in Boeing’s global supply chain.

“Here is yet another new Australian supplier joining our worldwide supply chain,” said Ian Thomas, president of Boeing Australia and South Pacific. “Australia is our largest presence outside the United States, and this contract is further proof of our commitment to local industry, particularly SMEs.”

With the Ferra contract, the OIAC has now coordinated contracts between Australian companies and Boeing worth nearly $35 million.
