Eclipse 500 reborn?

The EA500 Eclipse has received a new lease on life with Eclipse Aerospace launching a retrofit upgrade for  the very light jet.

Named the Total Eclipse, the upgrade is designed to fix a number of issues with EA500s. The aircraft will be certified for flight into known icing condition, a service ceiling of 41,000ft, and a 20,000 cycle airframe. The aircraft will also feature new systems including a Jeppesen eChart system and on board colour radar. The list price for the Total Eclipse is US$2.15m (A$2.35m).

Eclipse Aerospace is also investigating restarting production of the EA500, which it has been supporting since it took over a number of assets from bankrupt Eclipse Aviation in 2009.
