Boeing says it successfully flew the first of a second batch of F-15K fighters for South Korea on April 19.
The aircraft, dubbed F-15K41, is the first of 21 F-15Ks ordered under South Korea’s NFX2 contract as a follow-on to the original batch of 40 F-15Ks which completed delivery in October 2008. The F-15K is a development of the USAF’s F-15E Strike Eagle, with a maritime strike capability with the AGM-84K SLAM-ER missile and featuring the APG-63(V)2 radar – capable of being upgraded to AESA APG-63(V)3 standard.
One F-15K has been lost in an accident, with the 21st aircraft of the second batch ordered as a replacement.
