The first Boeing P-8A Poseidon maritime reconnaissance aircraft arrived at the US Navy’s east coast test facility at NAS Patuxent River near Washington DC on April 10.

The aircraft, dubbed T1, flew from Boeing Field, Seattle, and was ceremonially escorted into Pax River by a P-3C Orion, the aircraft it will replace in service. T1 will conduct test and evaluation activities at Pax River including airworthiness and flight envelope expansion tasks.

Two other test aircraft, T2 and T3, will joinT1 at Pax later this year.
