Malaysia Airlines buys A330s

written by WOFA | April 1, 2010

Malaysia Airlines has placed a firm order with Airbus for 15 A330-300s as well as two A330-200 Freighters, with deliveries to begin in 2011.

The order also includes options on 10 passenger aircraft and two additional freighters. Deliveries of the A330-300s will begin in the first half of 2011, while the first freighter for MASKargo will arrive from September 2011.

“The A330s complement the other aircraft orders under our fleet modernisation plan. The ability to add capacity will enable us to offer more frequencies to key destinations and fly to new destinations. This strategy complements our continuous investment in people, systems as well as infrastructure, and positions us in high gear for growth,” said Malaysia Airlines CEO, Azmil Zahruddin.
