Boeing has completed the first run of General Electric GEnx-1B engines on board the fifth 787, ZA005, ahead of the aircraft joining its four siblings in flight testing.

To date, the four aircraft involved in flight testing have been powered by Rolls-Royce Trent 1000 engines. GEnx’s also power the 747-8.

The Qantas Group is among the airline customers to have specified GEnx engines for its 787s.
