US company Air Transport Services Group Inc has executed a letter of intent to buy three Boeing 767-300ERs from Qantas.

ATSG did not disclose the purchase price for the three aircraft, but it is expected that the GE powered aircraft will be delivered during the third quarter of the year. Market prices for similar aircraft are currently between US$28.5m-$31.5m (A$32.3-35.7m).

ATSG operates three cargo carriers, including ABX Air and Air Transport International, which wet leases a 767-200F to Qantas Freight Enterprises, as well as maintenance and cargo leasing businesses. As such, it is expected that the aircraft may be converted to freighters.
