Gareth Evans, who has been acting chief financial officer for Qantas, has been permanently appointed to the position, the airline announced on June 16.

Evans had been acting in the role following the sudden resignation of Colin Storrie earlier this year. Prior to his appointment as Group CFO, Evans was CFO for Qantas Airlines and also holds directorships with the Qantas Foundation and Jetset Travelworld.

“I look forward to working with Gareth Evans in his new role as CFO at the Group level,” said CEO Alan Joyce. “We share a common vision of Qantas Airways operating the world’s best premium and low fares airlines, in Qantas and Jetstar, and the financial discipline required to ensure it remains one of the strongest airline groups in the world.”
