Appeal to retain Johanson’s record breaking aircraft

written by WOFA | July 2, 2010

The South Australian Aviation Museum has launched an appeal to raise funds to keep Jon Johanson’s record breaking RV-4 aircraft in Australia.

The homebuilt flew around the world in both directions and across both Polar regions, and is under threat of being sold to the USA unless an appeal to buy the aircraft is successful. Johanson’s achievements included 53 world flight records plus the International Aviation Award.

The SAAM is hoping to raise $55,000 to purchase the aircraft through donations from the public and put it on permanent display at its facility in Port Adelaide. Donations can be made at the Museum or by contacting them through email at [email protected].
