A large military order by Saudi Arabia valued at up to US$30bn (A$33bn) is currently under consideration by the US, the head of the US Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA), Vice Admiral Jeffrey Wieringa, told media at the Farnborough Airshow.
The potential order includes 84 new Boeing F-15 Eagles, 72 UH-60M Black Hawks, and the refurbishment of a further 70 F-15C/Ds already in service. The new F-15s are reported to be similar to the F-15SG standard currently being acquired by Singapore which includes the APG-63(V)3 AESA radar.
Saudi Arabia also operates 72 F-15S Eagles of a similar configuration to the F-15E Strike Eagle, about 70 Tornado IDS and ADVs, and is taking delivery of 72 Eurofighter Typhoons from the UK.
