Commander Peter Ashworth has won the Royal Aeronautical Society (RAeS) Canberra Branch’s Biennial Award for Excellence in Aviation for his work leading Project Air 9000, which is acquiring the Eurocopter MRH 90.
“All nominations received for the award were of high quality and the RAeS was encouraged by the standard of aerospace work being done in the ACT,” said RAeS Canberra Branch chairman Air Commodore Jon Pike (Ret’d). “The RAeS was however particularly impressed with Commander Ashworth’s exceptionally demonstrated day-to-day project management skills in successfully coordinating and managing the First of Class Flight Trials for the MRH 90 on HMAS Manoora.”
CDR Ashworth is now the project manager for Air 9000 Phase 8, which aims to replace the RAN’s Seahawks and fill the capability gap arising from the cancellation of the Seasprite program.
