Qantas has become the launch customer for Boeing’s 747-400ER Landing Gear Overhaul and Exchange Program after recently signing an agreement with Boeing.

Under the program, Qantas will have access to landing gear exchanges, repair and replacement services around the world for its fleet of six 747-400ERs from 2011 through the Boeing Service Centre Repair Network. Operators of the 747-400ER Freighter are also expected to take part in the program, providing a solid pool of landing gear equipment which can be called on at short notice.

“We appreciate that a customer such as Qantas is demonstrating their confidence in Boeing to provide them with this important service,” said Dale Wilkinson, vice president of Material Services for Boeing Commercial Airplanes.
