EADS CEO Louis Gallois says that Airbus is on track to meet its goal of delivering 20 A380s this year, with production unlikely to fall below that level in 2011.
According to a report by Reuters, Gallois said that A380 production was on track after Airbus made “significant progress” in reducing outstanding work following earlier delays. When asked if there was any reason to believe that output for 2011 would fall below the 20 planned for this year, he said “It is not the most probable hypothesis.”
Airbus delivered 10 A380s last year, well short of its goal of 14 as production bottlenecks emerged during the ramp up of production. In 2008, 12 A380s were delivered to customers, with a number built earlier but required wiring changes before their delivery to customers.
