The Lufthansa Group’s board has approved the acquisition of 40 Airbus aircraft worth US$4.3bn (A$4.5bn), with the aircraft to be flown by its Lufthansa, Swiss and Germanwings operations.
The order, which has yet to be firmed, is for 32 A320 Family aircraft (including eight A319s for Germanwings) and eight A330-300s. Five of the A330s will be operated by Swiss, while the remainder will be flown by Lufthansa.
