The Singapore Ministry of Defence has ordered 12 Aermacchi M346 Master trainers under the Republic of Singapore Air Force’s (RSAF) Advanced Jet Trainer (AJT) replacement program.

The aircraft will be supplied by Alenia Aermacchi and the training system by Boeing, both under contract to Singapore Technologies Aerospace (ST Aero), and will replace the RSAF’s ageing A-4SU Skyhawk. It is likely additional aircraft will be ordered at a later date.

Basing for the jets hasn’t been confirmed but is likely to be at Cazaux in France where the Skyhawks are currently located due to restricted airspace in and around Singapore.
