Strategic Airlines has announced that it has renewed its Australian air operator’s certificate (AOC) for three years, while it has also secured an AOC in Luxembourg which will be used for its European operations.

Strategic has been operating on a 12 month restricted AOC since it started operating, but CASA has now granted it a three year unrestricted AOC. “We’re really happy about that,” Strategic’s head of commercial Damien Vasta told The Australian. “It gives our market a little bit more confidence that they’re dealing with a more established Australian carrier that’s got a clean bill of health from CASA.”

The airline has also announced that it has received a new AOC in Luxembourg for its Strategic Europe operation. The new AOC comes after France’s DGAC failed to renew Strategic’s French AOC following issues with how it handled passengers on two flights earlier this year.

Strategic currently operates three A320s in Australia on scheduled services to Derby, Denpasar and Port Hedland, one A330-200 on charter flights to the Middle East for the ADF, and has applied to operate services from Australia to Thailand from February next year. Its European operation flies A320s on charter and wet-lease operations.
