Jetstar’s new Darwin-Manila flights will operate thrice weekly from February 9, the airline has announced.

The flights, still subject to regulatory approval, will depart Darwin at 1900 on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays as JQ75, returning the same evening and landing the following morning as JQ76.

Jetstar has launched marketing of the flights with $99 one-way Darwin-Manila fares, and $199 one-way Sydney-Darwin-Manila and Melbourne-Darwin-Manila flights.

“Filipino Australians now represent the third largest overseas born population base in Darwin. This alone will drive personal, holiday and commercial related travel between Darwin and Manila and underpin this service to set a sound platform to attract larger Asian visitation to Australia,” said Jetstar’s head of government and commercial partnerships Unni Menon.

Parent Qantas also operates to Manila from Sydney.
