Darwin Airport masterplan approved

written by WOFA | December 22, 2010

Minister for Infrastructure and Transport, Anthony Albanese, has approved Darwin Airport’s 2010 masterplan.

The plan features a major redevelopment of the passenger terminal by 2013 and  the progressive upgrade of taxiways and GA facilities. It also proposes the construction of a new access road linking McMillans Road and Osgood Drive.

“As well as playing a vital role in the long term defence of our nation, the airport is also an important piece of economic infrastructure for the Top End,” said Albanese. “Last financial year, more than 1.5 million passengers transited through its terminal – a number that’s expected to almost triple to four million by 2030.”

The plan will be made available for public comment within 50 days.
