The US Defense Security Cooperation Agency has notified Congress of a possible Foreign Military Sale (FMS) to India of a package of engines, support equipment, weapons, and training as part of a possible direct commercial sale of 22 Boeing AH-64D Block III Apache attack helicopters.
The package, estimated to cost US$1.4bn (A$1.39bn) includes 50 GE T700 engines, sensors, more than 1300 AGM-114 Hellfire anti-armour missiles, 245 Stinger air-to-air missiles, 30mm cannon ammunition, as well as various spares, training, tooling, and support publications.
The cost of the actual aircraft is not included in the package, as these are currently under negotiation as a direct commercial sale with Boeing.
