Jetstar launches Singapore-Melbourne

written by WOFA | December 16, 2010

Jetstar has launched Singapore-Melbourne flights.

Jetstar began Airbus A330 long haul operations from Singapore on December 16, launching its new daily service to Melbourne.

The new A330-200 flights are a result of Jetstar’s plans to develop Singapore into a major hub as part of its ‘Pan Asian’ strategy.

“This approach has us well placed to best participate in the fast growing and now largest global aviation market that is Asia, and further expand with first time long haul flying from Singapore,” said Jetstar chief commercial officer David Koczkar.

The Melbourne-Singapore flights connect into Jetstar Asia’s home port, and allow for onward connections to China, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and the Philippines. It is also expected that Jetstar will operate flights from Singapore on to Europe.

The new Melbourne-Singapore flights are codeshared with Jetstar parent Qantas.
