Boeing consolidates in IT/cyber market

written by WOFA | January 18, 2011

Boeing has announced the formation of its new Information Solutions business to better offer military grade software solutions for military, intelligence and large business customers.

Former Boeing chief information officer John Hinshaw will lead the new business as its vice president and general manager. A division of Network & Space Systems within the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) operating unit, Information Solutions combines teams with software development expertise from across BDS, including the cyber security, intelligence and logistics fields.

Vice president of BDS business development Chris Raymond said the skills merger made sense from a strategic point of view. “Aligning that collection of talented employees in one organisation validates our strategy to significantly build our information services capability for the cybersecurity and logistics command and control markets,” he said.

Boeing has made several acquisitions during the past three years that now form part of Information Solutions. These include the cyber/C4ISR-related acquisitions of RavenWing, DRT, Kestrel Enterprises, exMeritus, and Narus, and the LogC2-related acquisitions of Tapestry Solutions, Federated Software Group, and CDM Technologies.

Headquartered in Arlington, Boeing’s Information Solutions has approximately 4000 employees.
