written by WOFA | February 16, 2011

Safeskies Australia has announced the appointment of Ray Pearson as general manager (GM), as part of the board’s ongoing restructure of the safety organisation.

Pearson, an experienced career pilot with over 8000 flying hours on a variety of aircraft, has been in the new role since February 1. His appointment comes ahead of Safeskies’ October conference.

A former Australian Army helicopter pilot, instructor and air safety investigator, Pearson also holds an Airline Transport Pilot’s License (ATPL) for both rotary and fixed-wing aircraft and is also a qualified instructor in this capacity. Pearson’s civilian flying positions have included regional airline captain and aeromedical helicopter captain over a 12-year period, including his most recent deployment as a helicopter captain in the Solomon Islands supporting the Regional Assistance Mission. The veteran pilot has also worked with the Westpac Rescue Helicopter service in NSW.

Pearson is also Executive Officer of the Australian Sports Aircraft Confederation.
