Qantas has announced the acquisition of new aircraft across its Qantas domestic, Jetstar and Network businesses.

The new aircraft, for delivery through to the end of fiscal year 2012-13, comprise:

– Five leased 737-800s, and the extension of leases on a further two 737-800s, for Qantas;

– Ten leased A320s for Jetstar, and the extension of leases on 11 A320s;

– An additional leased A330-200 for Jetstar;

– Two additional leased 717s for QantasLink; and

– The purchase of 10 Fokker 100s for Network Aviation.

The Fokker 100s for the newly acquired Network business represent a significant expansion for the Perth based resource charter airline.

“Our intention from day one has been to grow Network, and today’s announcement will increase its F100 fleet five-fold,” Qantas CEO Alan Joyce said.

The 737s and A320s will be predominantly used for domestic services to “maintain its [the Qantas Group’s] profit maximising 65 per cent domestic market share”, according to Joyce.
