written by WOFA | February 17, 2011

Strategic has announced Brisbane-Gladstone flights.

Strategic Airlines has announced new Brisbane-Gladstone flights, with a 20 weekly flight schedule to launch on April 18.

Strategic will operate twice daily Airbus A320 return flights Monday to Friday. Flights will  depart Brisbane Airport at 6:10am and 2:45pm before arriving in Gladstone at 7:15am and 3:50pm respectively, while Gladstone to Brisbane flights will depart Gladstone Airport at 8:25am and 4:35pm before arriving in Brisbane at 9:30am and 5:40pm respectively.

“After discussions and consultation with the Gladstone Area Promotion and Development Limited, Gladstone Regional Council, local businesses, tourism and the mining industry it was our obvious next new destination,” Strategic Airlines founder and executive director  Michael James said.

“We are tremendously impressed with the development of the Gladstone area and the future growth projections expected. The commitment already shown by the city’s leaders to the needs of the Gladstone community and the city’s tourism, investment and lifestyle aims gives us great comfort working closely with the City of Gladstone with our new service.”

Stategic’s move into the Gladstone market comes after the Townsville Bulletin reported on February 15 that the airline will halve the number of its direct flights between Townsville and Bali from April this year, due to a drop off in demand. The Townsville-Bali service started in September 2010.
