ILFC has signed an MoU for the A320neo

Lessor ILFC has dropped its order for 10 Airbus A380s, instead signing an MoU for 100 A320neos, plus it has also finalised a firm order for 33 Boeing 737-800s.

After deferring its A380 deliveries last year by a year, ILFC’s decision to drop its A380 order has surprised few. The cancellation leaves A380 firm orders at 234 aircraft. ILFC was the only aircraft leasing company to have orderd the A380.

Instead, ILFC will order 75 A320neos and 25 larger A321neo variants. Pratt & Whitney’s PurePower PW1100G will power at least 60 of its new Airbus fleet.

Meanwhile, Boeing will deliver ILFC’s new 737-800s with the new 737 ‘Boeing Sky Interior’. The 33 737-800s have a list value of US$2.6 billion.
