Four student pilots are a step closer to realising their dream of flying, after receiving an Airservices Australia Learn to Fly Scholarship earlier this week.
Part of a four-year sponsorship agreement with the Royal Federation of Aero Clubs of Australia (RFACA) worth almost $100,000, the four would-be pilots were awarded the scholarships at the RFACA’s annual flying training conference.
Scholarship candidates are required to take an introductory flight with an RFACA member, where their suitability to receive formal training is assessed. The winners are subsequently selected from the top 10 per cent of scholarship applicants, each receiving $7700 to subsidise the cost of obtaining a private or commercial pilot’s licence.
