Chile's first ASW C295.

The Chilean navy has taken delivery of its first Airbus C295 anti-submarine warfare (ASW) variant, as it looks to replace its fleet of ageing P-3 Orions.

The C295 ASW features two underwing hard points, a search radar, digital avionics, an automatic identification system, acoustic system and a magnetic anomaly detector. Data collected from those sensors is then processed by a Fully Integrated Tactical System (FITS).

The ASW variant of the Airbus’s C295 family joins the Chilean navy’s existing C295 Maritime Patrol Aircraft (MPA), with a second C295 ASW to be delivered in the coming months. Airbus Military has to date sold 356 CN235 and C295 aircraft to 55 different operators worldwide.
