QantasLink has announced plans to increase capacity to the central Queensland centres of Mackay, Rockhampton and Gladstone over this month and next.

From mid April QantasLink is upgrading 11 return services between Brisbane and Mackay with larger Dash 8 subtypes, adding another 572 seats a week to the market, and likewise upgrading to larger Dash 8s on 35 return Brisbane-Rockhampton services, adding an additional 208 seats per week. Then in May QantasLink will add eight new Brisbane-Gladstone services per week (giving it a total of 99 frequencies and 7206 seats a week on the route).

“Regional Queensland has always been central to our operations and, following recent capacity increases, we are ready to extend this across even more of our network,” said QantasLink executive manager Narendra Kumar.

This latest announcement follows QantasLink’s addition of an additional 5000 seats per week to the Queensland centres of Barcaldine, Blackall, Bundaberg, Emerald, Gladstone, Hervey Bay, Longreach, Mackay, Moranbah, Rockhampton and Roma from April 6 following the deployment of another Dash 8 Q400 to the airline’s Queensland network.
