Airbus has received its first Messier-Dowty manufactured A350 XWB (A350-900) main landing gear set at its test facility in Filton, UK.

Airbus will install both the main landing gear and recently delivered nose landing gear sets in a landing gear systems test-rig at Filton, paving the way for integration testing planned towards the end of this year. Airbus says testing will aim to demonstrate system reliability and maturity, and will also go a step towards certification of the aircraft’s extension-retraction, braking and steering systems.

Delivery of the main landing gear set follows last month’s arrival of the nose landing gear, built by German firm Liebherr.

Airbus expects the A350 XWB will enter service in 2013.
