The United Arab Emirates (UAE) Air Force and Air Defence has taken delivery of the first of six Boeing C-17 Globemaster transports, in a ceremony held at the company’s final assembly facility in Long Beach, California.

Three more C-17s are due for delivery to the UAE later this year, with the remaining two aircraft planned for delivery in 2012.

According to Boeing, there are currently 231 C-17s in service worldwide operated by 21 international customers, including four with the RAAF.
