787 ZA002 has arrived in Japan.

Boeing and All Nippon Airways have begun service ready operational validation (SROV) with the 787 Dreamliner in Japan, as the airline prepares to take delivery of its first aircraft later this year.

Arriving at Tokyo’s Haneda Airport after a non-stop flight from Seattle yesterday morning, 787 flight test aircraft ZA002 will participate in the week long SROV process, which will see the aircraft conduct a number of scheduled in-service operations to several airports throughout Japan. SROV flights will include trips between Tokyo’s Haneda Airport and Osaka (Itami and Kansai), Okayama and Hiroshima. While in Japan, ANA ground crews will also practice maintenance and servicing of the 787 in a simulated operational environment.

“Validating all of our training and preparations for the Dreamliner is critical to help ensure a smoother entry into service for our passengers and crews later this year,” ANA president and CEO, Shinichiro Ito said.

Launch customer ANA currently has 55 787s on order, with the first aircraft expected to be delivered in the August to September timeframe.
