Tiger Airways has appointed former Qantas chief pilot Captain Chris Manning to the new role of “safety advisor”, which will see Manning “work directly with new CEO, Tony Davis, to ensure that the airline is applying the highest levels of operational safety management across the company”, the airline says.

“Today’s appointment is another step towards reassuring the industry and the public that Tiger Airways is committed to a safe, viable, and long term future in Australia,” Tiger Airways Australia CEO Tony Davis said of Manning’s appointment, which is effective immediately.

“Safety will continue to underpin our operations at all times and with the assistance of Chris, I am confident that Tiger Airways will operate with the highest levels of safety management across our entire operation, both on the ground and in the air.”

Manning joined Qantas as a cadet pilot in 1970, and progressed through the company to become chief pilot and group general manager flight operations.
