Regional Express subsidiary the Australian Airline Pilot Academy (AAPA) has commenced training its first intake of United Arab Emirates (UAE) cadet pilots, as they study to obtain the new ICAO Multi-Crew Pilot Licence (MPL).
AAPA is training the cadet pilots for Air Arabia in conjunction with Alpha Aviation Group (AAG) UAE, part of the Singapore based AAG, which has pilot training academies in the Philippines and the UK.
“We, together with AAG UAE, are very happy working with AAPA in supporting our MPL cadets in the flying component of the training curriculum in Wagga Wagga,” AAG Group COO Patrick Lai said. “The AAPA training facility and resources are top-notch and are able to meet the very stringent requirements of the GCAA and AAG, and we are confident that our cadets will be able to benefit from their training there,”
AAPA expects an intake of 60 UAE cadets per year for AAG UAE. All AAPA instructors have been MPL qualified for the UAE cadets, following an audit from the UAE’s General Civil Aviation Authority.
