QantasLink will introduce the Dash 8 Q400 turboprop to Western Australia for the first time with the planned launch of services between Geraldton and Perth from November 21.

QantasLink will offer a twice daily Monday to Friday service on the route, alongside daily return flights on Saturday and Sunday. The new service will compete with  Skywest, which currently flies several times a day between Geraldton and Perth.

QantasLink will also look to operate the Q400 twice-weekly between Exmouth and Perth on Mondays and Wedensdays, to complement Boeing 717s services on Fridays and Sundays.

“We are looking forward to introducing our Q400 aircraft on these key WA routes as part of Qantas’s significant investment in regional Australia. This follows our successful deployment and utilisation of this aircraft type across several destinations within Australia and Papua New Guinea,” QantasLink executive manager, Narendra Kumar said.

To operate the Q400 services, QantasLink is set to establish a new pilot and cabin crew base in Perth.
