Sydney Airport has announced the completion of a $26 million runway resurfacing project, as work now begins on a $25 million stop bar light installation
The installation of stop bar lights at taxiway entries to each of Sydney’s three runways will complement previous major resurfacing work done on the airport’s main north-south runway, east-west runway and some taxiways. Stop bar lights will aim to prevent an aircraft from inadvertently entering a runway without air traffic control clearance.
“Safety at Sydney Airport is paramount. Last year we completed the $100 million runway end safety area project. This year we have completed the runway resurfacing and have now commenced work on the stop bar lights,” Sydney Airport CEO Kerrie Mather said.
