Lufthansa will order seven more Airbus airliners – two additional A380s, four A320s and one A330-300 – and has signed for five Embraer E-195s.
“I am delighted that this additional order will enable us to secure the development of our short, medium and long haul fleets,” Nico Buchholz, executive VP Lufthansa Group fleet management said of the Airbus order. “It is the next logical step in our strategy of ongoing fleet modernisation with regard to fuel efficiency, operating costs, noise and emissions.”
The Lufthansa Group is the largest Airbus operator in the world with 368 Airbus airliners comprising 258 A320 Family, 37 A330s, 65 A340s, and eight A380s.
Meanwhile, Embraer has ordered five Embraer E-195s for its regional Italian operation Air Dolomiti. This latest E-Jet order will make the Lufthansa Group the largest E-Jet operator in Europe, ordering a total of 43 E-190s/195s since May 2007.
