Boeing delivered the first Peace Eye 737 Airborne Early Warning and Control (AEW&C) aircraft to the Republic of Korea Air Force (ROKAF) in a ceremony at ROKAF Base Gimhae on September 22.
Similar to the RAAF’s Wedgetail AEW&C 737, the Peace Eye will increase “South Korea’s self defence capacity with powerful airborne surveillance and battle management capabilities that will help enhance the security of the Korean peninsula,” according to Boeing’s Peace Eye program manager, Randy Price.
Three further Peace Eye aircraft are currently being modified by Korean Aerospace Industries in Sacheon, Korea, for delivery to the ROKAF in 2012.
In addition to the RAAF and ROKAF, the 737 AEW&C is also in production for the Turkish Air Force, under the Peace Eagle program.
