Qantas rolls out Q Streaming

Qantas will next month begin trialling streaming inflight entertainment to Apple iPad tablet computers on a single 767-300 in domestic service.

The world first six week ‘Q Streaming’ trial will run from late October through to early December and will allow passengers to view content such as movies streamed to the iPads ‘on demand’.  Each iPad will be fitted with a tracking device to prevent possible theft or a passenger accidently taking one on departure from the aircraft.

Later in the trail passengers travelling on the Q Streaming equipped aircraft will also be able to watch Qantas IFE on own their laptop computer, smartphone, tablet or other WIFI enabled device.

Qantas says after the trial it will assess “opportunities for the application” of Q Streaming across
