Virgin Australia has announced the latest plank in its international airline alliance strategy, with codeshared services on Hawaiian Airlines flights between Sydney and Honolulu, and connections through to the Hawaiian islands of Maui, Kauai and The Big Island, going on sale today.
Virgin Australia’s V Australia international long haul airline’s code will be placed on Hawaiian flights from October 31. Hawaiian currently flies to Sydney four times weekly, and is moving to a permanent daily service from December 14.
“Hawaii is a key tourist destination and this agreement will take us one step closer to obtaining global flight coverage for our guests,” said Virgin Australia CEO John Borghetti.
The codeshare builds on an interline agreement the two airlines first introduced in 2006.
