Relaunched budget carrier Air Australia has announced introductory $69 fares on flights between Melbourne and Brisbane.

The one-way fares, good from December 15, went on sale today as what was formerly known as Strategic Airlines rebrands itself as Australia’s newest low cost carrier.

Air Australia will offer ‘buy on board’ food, beverages and entertainment in economy class as well as a full-service business class. Business class tickets from Melbourne to Brisbane are also on sale from $499 one-way, the airline said.

Brisbane-based Air Australia’s initial routes include service to and from Melbourne, Curtin, Perth and Port Hedland as well as international service to Bali, Honolulu and Phuket, according to the airline’s relaunched website, airaustralia.com.

Unfortunately for the carrier, the domain name airaustralia.com.au is already in use by an unrelated online travel provider.
