Rolls-Royce has delivered its 1000th Trent 700 engine.
The engine, which powers the Airbus A330, has become the largest selling member of the Trent series of engines, with more than 1400 in service or on order, Rolls-Royce says. The engine was introduced in 1995.
Rolls-Royce says improvements handed down from later members of the Trent family make the Trent 700 the quietest and most fuel-efficient engine available for the A330. The triple-spool high bypass turbofan engines are in use in more than half the A330s currently in service and have been chosen for more than 75 per cent of new orders over the past three years, Rolls-Royce says.
Cathay Pacific is the largest operator of Trent 700-powered A330s, with 67 currently in service or on order.
