AirAsia X will suspend flights to Paris and London and curtail services to India in a cost cutting move, the Malaysia based budget carrier announced Thursday.

Attributing the move to the familiar combination of global economic uncertainty and soaring fuel costs, the long haul division of AirAsia said it would suspend its only two services to Europe at the end of March. Routes to Mumbai and Delhi will be cut from January 31 and March 22, respectively.

AirAsia X flies to London and Paris from Melbourne, Perth and the Gold Coast via Kuala Lumpur.

Passengers who hold bookings on the routes after they are scheduled to be canceled will be given alternative travel options at no extra cost, the airline said. Those include a full refund, a reroute to another AirAsia X destination, or a move to another carrier where possible.

The airline said it would redeploy its fleet to focus on its core markets of Australasia, China, Taiwan, Japan and Korea.
