An Air New Zealand Boeing 737 captain is taking on a grueling challenge to run seven marathons in seven continents in seven days in July to raise money for charity.
With his ‘777′ project, Captain Mike Allsop is aiming to become the first New Zealander to complete the challenge, which will see him run marathons in the Falkland Islands, Santiago, Los Angeles, London, Casablanca, Hong Kong and Auckland between July 15 and 22. The effort will raise funds for New Zealand children’s charity KidsCan.
Air New Zealand and Vodafone are sponsoring the 777 challenge.
“Mike is an exceptional Air New Zealander who challenges us all to look at ways within our own lives that we can push ourselves to achieve more,” said the airline’s head of sponsorship James Gibson.
“We think Mike will be a great ambassador for Air New Zealand on his flights around the world, while he’s completing his 777 project, and we look forward to celebrating with him at the finish line in Auckland.”
