Qantas CEO Alan Joyce has taken over as chairman of the board of governors of the International Air Transport Association.
“The top priorities, as always, will be safety, security, and sustainability. On top of that, I want to see IATA continue to deliver value to its members by being a strong advocate for the industry,” he said in a statement.
Mr Joyce succeeds KLM CEO Peter Haartman, who concluded his term at the end of the recent IATA AGM in Bejing.
Mr Joyce will hold the position for one year, and will be replaced by Delta Air Lines CEO Richard Anderson at next year’s AGM, which will be held in Cape Town.
